Memmingen Airport and the ARFF Driving Academy have agreed to a three-year partnership in the area of driver training for airport fire vehicles.
Driving airport fire vehicles weighing up to 40 tons and boasting 1000 horsepower is a demanding task, requiring airport firefighters to be on-site in the shortest time possible. This is an essential requirement for the operational permit of any airport.
In order to provide comprehensive support to its firefighters in this task and ensure aviation-compliant training, Memmingen Airport Fire Department has been closely collaborating with the ARFF Driving Academy from Frankfurt am Main since 2023.
Experts in the field of technology and driving dynamics of airport fire vehicles have developed an innovative training program that incorporates their extensive industry experience into each training session. Such specific training, integrating engineering background and vehicle dynamics into account, is unique worldwide.
The drivers of airport fire vehicles receive driver training tailored to the needs of the airport and the vehicles, consisting of initial training spanning several days and annual refresher courses.
The latest highlight of this partnership is the agreement for long-term cooperation between the two companies. Over the next three years, they will collaborate closely.
