As independent and leading specialists in training drivers of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles, we currently have the exciting task of training the colleagues at Hamburg Airport Fire Department on their new vehicles from the ZIEGLER Group.
With our BVH Training (Basic Vehicle Handling), our goal is to familiarize operators with the dynamic handling characteristics, driving, and safety-related features of these new machines, while introducing the fundamental principles of our specialized driving approach.
So far, we have covered over 1,100 kilometers of training routes and successfully trained two-thirds of the team.
It’s a real pleasure to introduce the drivers to the new vehicles while teaching them principles of driving that ensure maximum safety, speed, and low wear and tear – an approach that also contributes to significant long-term cost savings
We are also on track to greatly outperform the originally anticipated tire wear during the training sessions.
During the sessions, driving tasks and emergency maneuvers are practiced at speeds well over 80 km/h – quite impressive and educational given the 49-ton vehicle weight!
A special highlight this week: visits from NDR, SAT.1, dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH, and RTL Group! Filming was a lot of fun, and we sincerely thank them for accompanying us during the training.
We look forward to the next training week and returning to Hamburg Airport in December!
